Officials from the Department for Combating Illegal Migration said the group had entered Libya illegally and were returned by land after processing. The department noted that deportations of migrants from various African countries will continue by air, land, and sea in the coming days as part of efforts to curb irregular migration. Libya’s Interior Ministry previously described migration as a “national security issue,” estimating that around 2.5 million migrants are in the country. Libya remains a key departure point for migrants seeking to cross the Mediterranean to Europe.
