SANAA, YEMEN - SEPTEMBER 26: Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Yemen on Friday, Sept. 26, to express solidarity with the people of Gaza and condemn the ongoing Israeli offensive.

In the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and surrounding areas, hundreds of thousands gathered for a rally organized by the "Committee for Supporting Al-Aqsa”.

Protesters carried banners criticizing Israel and the United States, alongside Palestinian and Yemeni flags. They also held pictures of Palestinian, Lebanese, and Yemeni leaders.

Participants linked the timing of their gathering to Israeli raids on Thursday that targeted several areas in Sanaa, including residential neighborhoods. They vowed to continue supporting Gaza "no matter the sacrifices."

On Sept. 18, the United States once again vetoed a UN resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, following a vote in the Security Council.

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, launched after a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, has resulted in widespread destruction and a high number of casualties in the enclave. The offensive has also triggered a severe humanitarian crisis, including warnings of famine.

The Israeli army has killed more than 65,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. Months of air and ground assaults have left Gaza largely uninhabitable, pushing its population into famine and disease.
