KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 9: Israeli forces targeted Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Sept. 9, resulting in multiple casualties, according to the enclave's Health Ministry.

The ministry said Israeli troops opened fire near an aid distribution center in the southwestern part of Khan Younis, killing at least five Palestinians. The victims were identified as civilians seeking humanitarian assistance.

Separately, in the southern city of Rafah, a similar attack on people gathered for aid killed six Palestinians.

The Health Ministry reported that in the last 24 hours, 14 Palestinians were killed and more than 37 others were wounded by Israeli fire while attempting to access humanitarian supplies. The ministry stated that since May 27, the number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid has risen to 2,444, with over 17,831 wounded.

The Ministry also said 83 people were killed and 223 injured across the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours. The cumulative death toll from the ongoing Israeli offensive has reached 64,605, with 163,319 injuries since October 2023. It also reported that six more people had died of starvation amid a severe siege.

In a new development, the Israeli military issued a fresh evacuation order on Tuesday morning, instructing approximately one million residents of Gaza City to move south to the Al-Mawasi area. The army warned that staying in the city would be "extremely dangerous" and vowed to operate with "great force" there.

The humanitarian situation remains critical, with Israeli authorities having completely closed all Gaza border crossings since March 2, a move that aid agencies warn is pushing the territory's 2.4 million population into famine.
