Storyline: China embraces peak season for Christmas goods export [Voice_over] With the Christmas holiday season right around the corner, toy manufacturers in south China's Shantou City in Guangdong Province are working overtime to fill orders. On this assembly line, toys destined for Germany. To meet deadlines, the factory has extended its working hours. [Sound_bite] Li Weiqun, head, toy manufacturer: "Now we are working overtime. The last batch of Christmas goods will be delivered before the end of this month." [Voice_over] After toys are manufactured, they're shipped to clients around the world, which is keeping logistics firms in Guangdong busy. Especially in September, which is the annual peak-period for exporting Christmas goods. [Sound_bite] Liang Yihua, sales director, logistic company: "[Shipments] are almost in the two months and over 40 percent more than last year." [Voice_over] Customs data shows that China's total exports expanded 4.8 percent year-on-year this past August to 323 billion U.S. dollars. Exports have grown for six consecutive months.
