Incredible pictures show 40,000 pumpkins ready to be picked for Halloween
These amazing images show a field dotted with more than 40,000 ripe pumpkins which are just about to be harvested for Halloween.
The spooky vegetables are grown at Maxeys Farm Shop, in Kirklington, Nottinghamshire, in a field, which is the size of eight football pitches.
All of the pumpkins are homegrown from the seed being planted in June until they were ready to be harvested on October 4.
There are three generations of the Maxey family running the farm including Katharine, her husband, Keith, their son James, and Keith's mum Doreen.
Sizes range from miniature tennis ball-sized pumpkins to XXXL ones, which are as big as an exercise ball.
They have been growing them since to 70s.
They also come in different colours including orange, green, blue and white.
Since 2012 Maxeys' has held a 'Pick Up A Pumpkin' event every year where thousands of families trek to the field to pick out the perfect pumpkin to carve ahead of the ghastly night.
Pumpkin prices range between £2 and £10.
Katharine said: "It is magical looking across the field and seeing so many pumpkins."
"Even after all of these years it is still breaking - it is just a sea of orange. "
"It is also heartwarming when customers who are coming to choose a pumpkin first see them and they gasp and mutter 'wow'."
"They tell me trying to choose one takes ages, as no pumpkin is the same, they are all so different. "
"It is a year-long process first ordering the seeds in January."
"We then place them in a greenhouse in April so they can germinate."
"They are planted in June and then we let them grow until they are ready to be harvested in October."
"I'm very proud of our patch."
