Belgium: China's electric coaches shine at Busworld Europe
Storyline: A lineup of innovative electric coaches produced by China are gaining significant attention at the 27th edition of Busworld Europe in Belgium. The 27th edition of the event is being held at Brussels Expo, Belgium, from Oct. 4 to 9, 2025. As the world's leading biennial trade fair for the coach and bus industry, Busworld welcomes exhibitors and professionals from around the globe to showcase the latest vehicles, technologies, and innovations. This year's event attracted over 550 vehicle manufacturers, parts suppliers, and industry organizations from more than 40 countries and regions, including over 80 companies from China. The electric buses and coaches from China showcased at the event drew numerous industry professionals eager to explore and experience the interiors and driver's area firsthand. They noted several impressive features, from new energy powertrains to autonomous driving technology, and from lightweight materials to intelligent networking systems. According to industrial insiders, Chinese electric vehicles represent the future direction of the global industry, precisely meeting the urgent demand for green transportation in the European market. "The European manufacturers are still maybe stuck in diesel bus and in biofuel, whereas China is much more in the front when it comes to e-buses, and they are also very much adoptable -- they managed to adopt to the new market in a much higher speed than the European manufacturer has," said Kristin Mathisen, business developer, Nobina AS. "It's not only about to be competitive to the market on price, but they are also competitive in the marks for (being) 'advanced'. It's very reliable for everyone to use it," said Amjad Bayoumi, director, CityBus Operations, City Group Company. Several high-end pure electric vehicles from China won awards during the fair, including the honors for safety, environmental sustainability, design, Best Bus, and Best Coach. According to international exhibitors at the event, these accolades were well-deserved. "It's obvious why they have won these awards because the fixture and the finish and the design and the technology element of the vehicles is a step above where the Western manufacturers are at the moment. We have noticed in the last 10 years that the development of Chinese vehicles has substantially increased. The latest designs, the latest ideas are all influenced from Chinese markets. It's understandable that the Chinese are now looked upon as the market leaders," said Simon Collins, UK Coach Sales Manager at Pelican. Shotlist: Brussels, Belgium - Recent: 1.
