Dutch Government Takes Control Of Chinese-Owned Chipmaker Nexperia. The Dutch government has taken control of Chinese-owned chipmaker Nexperia, citing concerns over the potential transfer of sensitive technology to its Chinese parent company, Wingtech. Nexperia, based in the Netherlands, manufactures chips for cars and consumer electronics. Amsterdam invoked rarely used powers under the “Availability of Goods Act,” giving the government the ability to reverse or block management decisions it considers harmful. While production continues as normal, the move caused Wingtech’s shares in Shanghai to drop 10% on Monday. The decision comes amid global tensions over semiconductor technology and intellectual property with the US also pressuring Chinese tech firms and threatening tariffs. A Dutch Economic Affairs Ministry spokesperson said there was no US involvement in the Nexperia decision, describing the timing as “purely coincidental.” [Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT]
