STORYLINE:
The Dutch people celebrated King's Day, known as "Koningsdag" in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on Saturday with joyful outdoor celebrations.
The national holiday is an orange-filled festival that takes place annually on the Dutch King's birthday on April 27. King Willem-Alexander turns 57 this year.
With orange decorations everywhere, Dutch flags and people dressed head to toe in orange, it is one of the most popular Dutch national holidays.
A particular cultural attraction of King's Day in Amsterdam is that many people take boats on the canals, making the water the main place of celebration.
The orange color that permeates the national holiday as well as much of Dutch culture is a homage to the royal family, who are from the House of Orange.
