Storyline: Farmers harvest bumper crop of hairy crabs in E China [Voice_over] Crab farmers in Anfeng Town, of eastern China’s Jiangsu Province are harvesting a bumper crop of the crustaceans this season. One farmer said favorable temperatures over the summer boosted crab production, which has lowered prices a tad compared to last year. [Sound_bite] Zhu Chunxia, crab farmer: "It's still slightly lower than previous years, with an average price of around 17 U.S. dollars per kilo. Larger sizes can cost over 25 dollars per kilo, while smaller ones cost over 12 dollars." [Voice_over] Official data shows that Anfeng Town allocates more than 11,000 hectares for crab farming, with some 35,000 people employed in the industry. The deputy mayor said crab production this year is expected to be around 20,000 tons. [Sound_bite] Zou Ruming, Deputy Mayor of Anfeng Town, Xinghua City, Jiangsu Province: "We have a total of 21 river crab deep-processing enterprises and eight large e-commerce companies, with an annual transaction volume of approximately 140 million U.S. dollars." [Voice_over] Officials say the value of Anfeng’s crab farming output this year is expected to be worth about 280 million U.S. dollars. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
