VARIOUS DRONE SHOTS OF TATA STEEL PLANT IN JAMSHEDPUR JAMSHEDPUR, INDIA - OCTOBER 17, 2025: Japan’s industrial gas producer Air Water Private Limited has signed a 20-year agreement with Tata Steel to operate and maintain one of India’s largest oxygen plants at the company’s Jamshedpur facility, the companies announced Thursday. The Air Separation Unit (ASU), located in the eastern Indian industrial city, is in its final stabilization phase and is scheduled to be handed over to Air Water in November 2025. The agreement was signed by Kausik Mukhopadhyay, Managing Director of Air Water India Private Limited, and Peeyush Gupta, Vice President (TQM, GSP & SC) of Tata Steel. The onsite plant is designed to produce 1,800 tons of oxygen per day, along with nitrogen, argon and dry compressed air. The gases will primarily be used in Tata Steel’s blast furnaces and steel melting shops at its Jamshedpur facility, the company’s flagship and one of India’s largest steel-making sites. The partnership aims to ensure a steady and efficient supply of industrial gases for Tata Steel’s operations. Drawing on Air Water’s global experience in cryogenic technology and remote plant management from Japan, the collaboration is expected to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. Tata Steel, part of the Tata Group, is among the world’s leading steel producers with operations in India, the United Kingdom and continental Europe, serving industries including automotive, construction, engineering and packaging.
