A couple are welcoming "twiblings" two months apart - after they fell pregnant naturally while expecting a baby through surrogacy. "

Mia Kaercher, 31, and her husband Chad, 32, underwent IVF after they struggled to conceive naturally after their wedding.

After two failed embryo transfers, they opted for surrogacy and learned they were expecting a baby boy in January 2025.

But in June, Mia was feeling ill and went to the doctor, who told her she was four months pregnant with a little girl.

Their surrogate gave birth to their son Woods, now two weeks-old, on September 26, weighing 8 lbs 6 oz.

Mia is due to welcome his little sister on November 21, 2025 - just two months later.

Mia, a management consultant from Las Vegas, Nevada, said: "We always knew we wanted two children."

"Our surrogate said that if nothing ever worked for me naturally, she would have our second child for us."

"Halfway through our pregnancy with the surrogate, I started feeling ill, so I went to our doctor."

"He confirmed that I was four months pregnant, which was a complete miracle."

After tying the knot in a ceremony surrounded by their family and friends in July 8, 2023, the couple immediately started trying for a baby but were unsuccessful.

Mia was born with a BRCA1 mutation, which meant she had a 90 percent chance of getting breast or ovarian cancer, and doctors advised she'd need a double mastectomy by 30.

Mia said she felt like a "ticking time bomb" and was planning on breastfeeding her baby, so she opted for IVF treatment."

Mia said: "I hoped to get pregnant right away."

"I was about to turn 30, they wanted me to have a double mastectomy, and when things weren't working well with getting pregnant, we got worried."

"I thought something was wrong, and a doctor recommended we try IVF."

The couple underwent IVF treatment for a year but after two failed transfers doctors suggested they apply for surrogacy.

Mia said: "They added us to a list, and within 48 hours, we had a phone call saying that we had been partnered with a surrogate."

"We met via Zoom the following week with her and her husband, and it was wonderful."

"She had told me that she had children of her own, and she wanted to do surrogacy because her sister was struggling to get pregnant."

In January 2025, the two couples met at The Fertility Clinic of Las Vegas, where the embryo transfer took place and Mia underwent a double mastectomy, later that month.

After 10 days, Mia and Chad found out that they were expecting a baby boy via surrogacy and said they were "overwhelmed" with happiness. "

Mia said: "It was the most beautiful moment of our lives."

"It was just the most overwhelming happiness that I could ever explain. We had waited for that call for so long."

"Also, it comes with anxiety and apprehension - you want to make sure the baby is OK and everything goes to plan."

"It was a big moment for us."

In June 2025, Mia decided to "overhaul" her lifestyle - removing cooking oils and processed food from her diet."

Instead of feeling better, Mia said she started to feel ill, so she went to her doctor, who revealed that she was four months pregnant.

Mia said: "We could not believe what we were hearing."

"It was the most overwhelmingly beautiful moment that I will ever experience."

On September 26, 2025, Mia and Chad welcomed Woods via surrogacy at 6:27 p.m., weighing 8 lbs 6 oz.

"It was beautiful to see, nothing but happiness," Mia said."

"We were able to have him in our arms, have skin-to-skin contact."

"We had those moments, our surrogate and her husband had some time with him too - it was a full-circle moment."

Mia and Chad are now waiting to welcome their daughter naturally on November 21, 2025.

They said they are going to raise Woods and his sister as "twiblings" and have already decorated a shared nursery for them."

Mia said: "Pregnancy as a whole has been great - I feel incredibly lucky."

"We have decorated a beautiful gender-neutral nursery for Woods and his little sister to enjoy."

"A space for them to bond and be raised together."
