Following evaluations by an international jury, 29 photographers were awarded in 10 categories. The winning photos, previously displayed in Ankara and Istanbul, are now showcased at the Blue Gallery in New York.
Held annually for 11 years, the contest received nearly 22,000 submissions from photographers of 114 nationalities this year.
Visitors to the exhibition can view powerful images documenting major global events — from Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza and devastating floods in East Africa to the Icelandic volcanic eruption, athletes of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Afghan women’s struggle for life, survivors of Syria’s Sednaya Prison, Brazilian surfers battling giant waves, and migrants risking perilous journeys.
The award-winning photographs will remain on display at Blue Gallery until Oct. 26, after which they will be exhibited for a second time at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters.
The contest evaluates single and series photos in the categories of news, sports, nature and environment, portrait, and daily life. Details about the award-winning photographs can be found at istanbulphotoawards.com.
