1. ISRAELI MINISTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY AND FAR-RIGHT POLITICIAN ITAMAR BEN-GVIR ATTENDING PARLIAMENT SESSION WITH GREASY ROPE PIN
2. VARIOUS OF MEMBERS OF JEWISH POWER PARTY WEARING GREASY ROPE PIN / BEN-GVIR SPEAKING JERUSALEM - DECEMBER 08: Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and members of his Jewish Power Party attended a Knesset session on Monday, Dec. 8, to discuss a bill proposing death penalty for Palestinian prisoners wearing “greasy rope” badges.
Ben-Gvir announced in a statement on the US-based social media platform X that he and his party's lawmakers attended the National Security Committee session "wearing a badge shaped like a noose."
Sharing a photo of himself wearing the pin, Ben-Gvir claimed it was a sign of his party's insistence on passing the law imposing the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners.
“A pin — which is one of the options for how this law might be carried out”, the statement on X read.
The controversial bill calls for the death penalty for Palestinians who kill Israelis “for nationalist motives.”
However, if enacted, the bill would not apply to Israelis who kill Palestinians.
According to earlier data from advocacy groups, Israel arrested more than 20,000 Palestinians since October 2023, while over 9,100 remain detained, in addition to hundreds held in military camps.
