China: Heavy snow hits Daxing'anling region in northeast China
Storyline: Heavy snow struck China's northernmost Heilongjiang Province on Sunday, with the Daxing'anling region reporting an average snow depth of 6.5 centimeters. In response, local authorities issued a blue alert for blizzard conditions and a yellow warning for icy roads. China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Multiple departments across the region swiftly activated snow-clearing and de-icing emergency response to ensure road safety. Currently, the main roads in downtown areas remain smooth. The blizzard blue alert was lifted on Sunday afternoon, though the yellow warning for road ice remains in effect. According to the local meteorological observatory, additional snowfall is expected over the coming week. Northeast China has recently undergone a sharp temperature drop. The National Meteorological Center reported that parts of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Heilongjiang saw temperatures fall by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with some areas experiencing declines as steep as 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
