Japan: Tense Anti-Immigration Demonstration Spirals Into Riot In Kawaguchi
Kawaguchi, Japan - October 26, 2025 A video posted on October 26, 2025 by X user @yosshie34 shows a heated anti-immigration demonstration in Kawaguchi City, near Warabi. Dozens of people march through a covered walkway or what appears to be a train station area beneath fluorescent lights. Many demonstrators wear white, hazmat-style protective suits, masks and hats, and carry Japanese flags, banners and signs with Japanese-language messages opposing immigration, including slogans such as "No More Immigrants". Riot police in blue uniforms and helmets form lines on both sides of the march, keeping the groups apart. There is no visible violence in the footage, but officers maintain a strong, organized presence. A smaller cluster of counter-protesters, some wearing red jackets or casual clothes, hold opposing placards and shout through megaphones, calling out "racists" and "fascists" and displaying phrases like "Racist Karen" and "Fascist Go Home" in Japanese. Megaphones and chanting from both sides create a tense, contained standoff. Separate messages accompanying the footage claim a riot is breaking out in Kawaguchi City and describe a nationwide demonstration against immigration policy on October 26, 2025. The posts also allege unrest at Toda Koen Station and warn that immigration policy could lead to a collapse of public order.
