Police have uncovered one of the largest cannabis factories in the county’s history at the former Aspers casino building in Northampton town centre.

At around 9am on 30 October, officers from Northampton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team forced entry into the property on Commercial Street, where they discovered thousands of cannabis plants spread across multiple floors. Using chainsaws to gain access, police found a highly organised and sophisticated operation, with extensive efforts made to secure the site, including bricked-over doors and steel-reinforced rooms.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remains in police custody.

The video shows officers returning to the premises the following day to clear the site, removing large bags of cannabis from the building and loading them into police vans as part of the ongoing investigation.
