Dashcam Footage Shows HGV Tailgating and Flashing Lights Before Prosecution

Buy video

Dashcam footage captures the moment a motorist, driving within a 30mph limit with two elderly passengers and a child in the car, is aggressively tailgated by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). The HGV rapidly catches up and begins flashing its headlights while following dangerously close behind.

At the next set of traffic lights, the driver challenges the HGV driver about his behaviour. The lorry driver, an Eastern European agency driver working for a local haulage company, claims the car was not travelling fast enough and incorrectly insists the speed limit is 40mph.

The incident was reported to police, and following a review of the footage, the HGV driver was prosecuted for driving without due care and attention (reference: RT88575).
