Doorbell cam captures trick-or-treaters banging and kicking front door
A mother has told of her shock after doorbell footage captured trick-or-treaters banging and kicking her front door on Halloween.
Shannon Shipman, 25, had been out taking her two young sons, aged two and three, trick-or-treating when she received a notification from her doorbell camera.
When she opened the live feed, she saw a group of children gathered outside her home in Melksham, Wiltshire – with one repeatedly thumping on the door.
An adult voice can be heard in the background urging the child to 'bang the door really hard,' prompting the youngster to hit it harder before kicking it, reportedly leaving dirty shoe prints across the surface
Shannon, a content creator, said: "It felt really intimidating."
"If that had been my child hitting a door like that, they would be done with trick-or-treating for the night."
"I would certainly not be encouraging them."
Shannon and her family were in the next village over, Lacock, where both sets of her children's grandparents live, for trick-or-treating.
Shannon's husband immediately raced home, terrified for their Jack Russell, Teddy, who was alone inside and likely terrified by the commotion.
Shannon said: "We were pretty worried for him."
"He's used to people knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell, which many other people did that night."
"But if I had been home alone and heard that I would be shaken, so I figured he might be as well."
"When my husband arrived, he was madly barking at the window, so think he was definitely happy to see him."
