Heart-stopping footage shows the moment an idiot motorist narrowly avoided causing a massive pile-up after driving the wrong way down a dual carriageway.

Other drivers were forced to swerve out of the way after the vehicle went hurtling the wrong way down the A34 in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

Shocking dash-cam video shows how the reckless motorist only avoided causing a huge crash by a matter of inches on Tuesday (13/1).

The footage, obtained by the Birmz is Grime blog, was uploaded to social media where it was viewed thousands of times on Instagram.

One web user commented: "Flip me … have they a death wish."

Another added: "How TF did they even manage to do that."

One person said: "That must have been so scary. I nearly had a heart attack just watching that."

A fourth wrote: "Only in brum Yuno GTA 6."

It is not yet clear if the driver was tracked down and arrested.

West Midlands Police has been contacted for comment.
