Storyline: China, Italy eye closer cooperation in equestrian sports [Voice_over] Italy's oldest horse fair, Fiera Cavalli, is the ultimate stage for the country's equestrian excellence. And it's this horsemanship that lies at the heart of a new partnership with China. [Sound_bite] Marco Di Paola, President, Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports: "Italy is the leader in teaching equestrian sports and wants to collaborate with China to help Chinese instructors understand the expertise of the great Captain Federico Caprilli, and transmit these teachings to their students." [Voice_over] This year, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow the exchange of horses, trainers, riders, blacksmiths and vets. [Sound_bite] Marco Di Paola, President, Ita lian Federation of Equestrian Sports: "The world of equestrian sport is globalized. We have several Italian athletes who travel to China to compete." [Voice_over] One of them is showjumper Alberto Zorzi. [Sound_bite] Alberto Zorzi, Italian Showjumping Rider: "I've been to the Longines Beijing Masters in China, it was great experience and in a few weeks, I will go to Chengdu for another show, so I really like China." [Voice_over] The MOU reflects China's rapidly growing interest in the sport. [Sound_bite] Marco Porro, Selector, Italian National Showjumping Team: "When I travel internationally, I've noticed an increasing number of Chinese riders — they've improved a lot and are taking part in all the major circuits." [Voice_over] Now in its 127th year, Fiera Cavalli attracts around 130,000 visitors from around the world. It's a key platform to put this professional and cultural exchange into practice. [Stand_up] Hermione Kitson, Reporter: "Italian authorities say the MOU with China is just the beginning, with groundwork already underway for a formal bilateral agreement that will further boost equestrian trade and job opportunities in both countries." [Sound_bite] Adolfo Rebughini, General Director, Veronafiere: "It's a first step to do something more tangible - a passion that is very important to the Chinese people but also very important to our economy. It represents 3 billion euros in terms of overall revenue and it gives work to more than 100,000 people."
