Argentina: Train derailment on Sarmiento line in Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires, Argentina - November 11, 2025 A passenger train on Argentina’s Sarmiento line derailed near the Liniers station in Buenos Aires on Tuesday afternoon. At least 20 people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. The accident occurred when several cars of the formation came off the tracks shortly after departing from the station. Emergency services, firefighters, and railway personnel worked at the scene to evacuate passengers and restore service. Authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment, which may be linked to a failure in the track switching system or rail infrastructure.
