Britain's most Christmassy pub turns its lights on
Britain's most Christmassy pub has switched on tens of thousands of lights on its 50 trees to mark the start of the festive season.
The Churchill Arms in Kensington, West London, has been bringing Christmas cheer to the capital's streets for over 30 years with its elaborate festive displays.
The 18th-century pub, named after wartime premier Sir Winston Churchill, will light up at 4pm every day between now and the 'Twelfth Night' on January 6.
This year, the pub is doing its bit by adding thousands of low-energy LED lights to its display.
The boozer, opened back in 1750 and part of the Fuller's chain, changed its name to honour Britain's war hero after World War II.
Churchill's grandparents are said to have regularly visited the watering hole in the 1800s, and the walls of the pub are bedecked with memorabilia of the two-time PM.
Its decadent flower displays during the warmer months have also secured its place among the few pubs to be a winner at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The pub's Christmas displays began back in 1990 when one tree was put up at the entrance of the pub and a couple were scattered around the outside.
But this has snowballed over the decades into the impressive, grandiose display that now dazzles Kensington Church Street today.
