A dad earns £30k a month as a vintage reseller thanks to timed auction tactic that helps him rake in up to £40 in ten seconds.

Connor Stone, 30, didn't know what to do after leaving the army and started selling some of his clothes on Vinted.

When he started to make £2k a month - matching his job in transportation - he quit and became a reseller full time.

Now he sells on Whatnot running live auctions and sells each item in ten second timed auctions.

It drives fast and often big bids, so he can make a £40 profit by selling North Face coat which cost him £8 from wholesalers for £48.

The dad-of-one says he regularly makes £30k-a-month.

Connor, owner of BZR clothing, from Nottingham, said: "People have ten seconds to bid for an item."

"A North Face coat brand new in the shop would cost £240. I'll sell it for £48."

"I've made £40 in ten seconds. "

"In half an hour I made a £1,400 profit on £1,900 worth of stock."

"I make £30 to £40 profit every ten seconds."

Connor left the army in 2023 and struggled with the transition.

He said: "In the army you get told where to be, what you are wearing, when to get up, when to eat."

"It's very regimented and and very disciplined."

Connor had previously occasionally sold his clothes on Vinted - making "pocket money" - enough to pay for a takeaway for his wife, Lauren Stone, 31, or a food shop each month."

But after being left with time in between his shifts in transportation he started selling more on the site - buying cheap stock from charity shops.

Connor matched his monthly salary of £2,000 in just five months - and quit to go full time as a reseller in April 2024.

He began building relationships with wholesalers and brands - where he buys a bulk of stock - spending £10k a month.

Connor switched to live streaming on Whatnot and now runs live auctions to sell items.

He often sells brands such as North Face, Patagonia and "big ticket brands" like Ralph Lauren."

He starts bids from £1 and customers have 10 seconds to bid. Despite selling items for lower prices Connor finds he still makes large profits and means his customers get a bargain.

Connor said: "It's a quick turnover."

He has sold 52,000 items on the platform and now has a warehouse of all his stock.

To anyone starting out as a reseller Connor recommends they "be vigilant of the market"."

He said: "If you see David Beckham wear North Face you know it's going to do well."

"If you see Molly Mae in some Adidas trainers you know that will do well." "

Connor said he is often asked why he doesn't sell items for a higher price. Often the North Face jackets he sells are worth £240.

But he has often spent £6 to £10 on a jacket so still find he makes a good profit selling them for £40 and upwards.

Connor said: "Think about what the product owes you rather than what it's worth."
