This video was filmed during the major eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, Indonesia, on 19 November 2025. The eruption produced massive ash plumes and sent pyroclastic clouds toward nearby villages.

I recorded this footage from a safe distance shortly after the mountain erupted, capturing the moment thick grey ash rose rapidly into the sky. The atmosphere turned dark as volcanic material spread across the area, and people around me reacted in shock and confusion.

This was an unexpected event, and within minutes residents began to evacuate while authorities issued an emergency alert and raised the volcano’s status to Level IV (Awas). My recording documents the intensity of the eruption as it happened in real time and shows the immediate impact on the surrounding environment.

This footage provides raw, on-the-ground visuals that help illustrate the scale and urgency of the Semeru eruption — valuable for news reports, analysis, and documentation of natural disasters.”
