China: Taiwan politician says Takaichi's remarks reflect false thinking
Yok Mu-ming, former chairman of Taiwan's New Party, has criticized Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for her recent erroneous remarks concerning Taiwan, saying they reflected "false thinking" and a continuation of militaristic ideas. Earlier this month, Takaichi said at a Diet hearing that the Chinese mainland's "use of force on Taiwan" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan and implied the possibility of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait. Yok added that many in Japan have acknowledged China's growing national strength compared with the past. Yok urged presenting documented evidence of Japan's wartime actions, so younger generations can understand the historical record. Yok also said, "If she likes to court death, then let her. We just need to show some truth about the past." Shotlist: Shanghai, China - Nov 21, 2025: FILE: Tokyo, Japan - Date Unknown 1. SOUNDBITE (Chinese, dubbed in English) Yok Mu-ming, former chairman, Taiwan's New Party: "Sanae Takaichi always had a false thinking on China. She thought Japan has invaded China before, so China is like a defeated opponent. So now she wants to continue to realize the militaristic idea of invading China and hurting the Chinese people. Let's just listen to what she said. Many people of insight in Japan also have said that China is no longer like China in the past compared in terms of national strength. So let's not argue with her. I hope she will talk more. We only need to bring out the evidence that Japan hurt China in the past, including hurting the Chinese people, the massacre in Nanjing, etc. As long as these facts have been reported by the media in the past, as long as those briefings are easy to collect, relevant academic institutions and relevant units can show them truthfully, so that our younger generation can understand."; FILE: Tokyo, Japan - Sept 2024 3.
