China and France need to strengthen communication and cooperation in the face of complex global challenges, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot in Beijing on Wednesday. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China and France need to shoulder their common responsibilities as major countries in the world and as permanent members of the United Nations. Wang made clear China's principled position on Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks about Taiwan, pointing out the grave harm the comments had done to bilateral relations. Barrot said France is committed to the one-China policy and hopes to deepen friendship and cooperation between the two countries during French President Emmanuel Macron's state visit to China. At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Macron will visit China from Dec. 3 to 5. SHOTLIST: Beijing, China - Dec 3, 2025 1. Meeting venue; 2.
