3. LEVANT SPEAKING (In Arabic) DOHA, QATAR - NOVEMBER 25: Palestinian rap artist Saint Levant delivered a powerful political message during his performance at the first-ever Doha Film Festival (DFF), organized by the Doha Film Institute.
The rapper — known for hits like “Kalamantina,” “Do You Love Me?” and “Samra” — thanked Qatar for welcoming Palestinians, telling the audience:
“We left Gaza when I was seven... This is the story of many Palestinians. Palestine cannot be defined by borders — we are a global community of 12 million.”
Addressing the situation in Gaza, he said: “This is not a conflict or a war — it is genocide. It’s important to call it what it is.”
Levant highlighted the resilience and compassion of Palestinians and Arabs, rejecting stereotypes he faced growing up. He said that being welcomed in Doha made him “feel at home,” prompting the crowd to chant “Free Palestine.”
Born Marwan Abdelhamid in Jerusalem, Levant spent his childhood in Gaza before relocating to Amman in 2007. He has promoted Palestinian culture through multilingual projects since his teens. His early release “1001 Nights” (2021) was followed by his album “From Gaza, with Love.”
The artist previously drew international attention for speaking about Gaza during his performance at Coachella, a moment that went viral on social media.
