UNCAPTIONED: Trump Faces Backlash After Calling NYT Reporter 'Ugly' in Latest Attack on Female Journalists
Trump Faces Backlash After Calling NYT Reporter ‘Ugly’ in Latest Attack on Female Journalists. President Trump insults New York Times reporter Katie Rogers as “ugly, inside and out” after she co-authored a story noting signs of him aging in office. The Truth Social post marks Trump’s third personal attack on a female reporter in recent weeks, following incidents involving ABC’s Mary Bruce and Bloomberg’s Catherine Lucey. The New York Times defends Rogers, saying personal insults won’t deter its reporters from covering the administration “without fear or favor.” Earlier this month, Trump told Bruce she was a “terrible reporter” and a “terrible person” after she questioned him about the Jeffrey Epstein files and Jamal Khashoggi’s murder. Days before, he told Bloomberg’s Lucey “Quiet, piggy” on Air Force One—an incident the White House later framed as the president merely being “frank and honest.” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson denies gender plays a role in Trump’s remarks, saying his criticism stems from low public trust in the media. Trump has also targeted male figures, calling Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker “a low-IQ person” and “a fat slob” during the White House turkey pardoning ceremony. Media organizations continue to push back, stressing that tough questioning is essential to public accountability despite the president’s escalating rhetoric.
