On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People which falls on November 29 every year, the Palestinian people in various parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are still suffering. The Palestinians continue to face increased settlement activities by Israel, which exacerbate the suffering experienced in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and significantly hinder the implementation of the two-state solution. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated his call for irreversible progress toward a two-state solution and an end to the illegal occupation of Palestinian land. This year's International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is observed annually on Nov. 29, comes after two years of horrific suffering in Gaza, and the start of a much-needed ceasefire, Guterres said. Earlier this week, China reiterated its support for the just cause of restoring the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, saying the Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East conflict and a test of the effectiveness of the global governance system. A number of countries have formally recognized a Palestinian state. Countries including the UK, Canada, France, Monaco, Andorra, and Belgium announced the recognition in September 2025. The State of Palestine is recognized as a sovereign nation by 157 of the 193 UN member states, representing 81 percent of the group. The UN General Assembly established the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in 1977. The two-state solution remains at the core of international efforts to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. SHOTLIST: Gaza Strip - Recent 1. Various of tents for displaced Palestinians; 2.
