According to the statement, President Vladimir Putin visited the headquarters of the Joint Military Group, where he was briefed on battlefield developments by Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov and other senior commanders.
Gerasimov reported the capture of Pokrovsk and Vovchansk, while Central Military Group commander Valery Solodchuk said Russian troops had secured the southern part of Dimitrov (Mirnograd). Eastern Military Group commander Andrey Ivanayev provided updates on operations in Zaporozhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk, noting advances toward the Gaychur River and efforts to take Gulyaypole.
The Kremlin added that Putin congratulated the commanders on their “successful actions” and instructed them to ensure adequate supplies for troops during the winter period.
Fierce fighting over the past two months has centered on Pokrovsk, a key transport hub in the Donetsk region, as well as in and around Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.
In mid-November, Russia claimed that the country’s forces took control of the city of Kupiansk. It was also claimed by the chief of general staff that 70% of the frontline city of Pokrovsk was captured.
