China: China calls on EU to provide fair, just, non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese firms
China calls on the European Union (EU) to provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies seeking to invest and operate in Europe, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday. He Yadong, the spokesman, said at a regular press conference that during the meetings last week, the leaders of both sides reached a series of important consensus on China-EU economic and trade cooperation. "Last week, the 25th China-EU Summit was successfully held, during which leaders of both sides reached a series of important consensus on China-EU economic and trade cooperation. The Ministry of Commerce will work with the EU to implement these consensuses. During the leaders' meetings, the ministry hosted a China-EU Business Leaders Symposium. Business representatives from both sides expressed their confidence in China-EU trade and investment cooperation and their willingness to jointly advance China-EU industrial and supply chain cooperation to a higher level," He said. "China has always believed that the essence of China-EU economic and trade relations is complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win results. China hopes the EU will keep its market open, take the concerns of Chinese companies seriously, exercise restraint in the implementation of restrictive trade measures, and provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies seeking to invest and operate in Europe. China will continue to expand high-level opening-up, improve its business environment, fully ensure national treatment for foreign investors, and strengthen intellectual property protection, in order to provide sound services for foreign companies. China welcomes more European enterprises to invest in China, further explore the Chinese market and share its development opportunities," said the spokesman.
