This is the amusing moment a police dog was caught on camera stealing a snowman's arm.

The K9 pooch, named Chase, was spotted ripping the arm off the snowman, named Mr Frosty T, outside a police precinct in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

CCTV footage shows the playful German Shepherd slowly approaching the statue on December 3.

He then sniffed it before clamping his jaw on the twig placed as an arm of the ice sculpture.

After securing the small tree branch, he trotted out of the snow-covered yard.

Officers jokingly reported the incident and said they were 'looking into the matter.'

The department also reportedly replaced the stolen arm.

They said: 'A formal apology by K9 Chase is expected for what happened.'
