GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - DEC. 14: Gaza’s Interior and National Security Ministry announced on Sunday, Dec. 14, the killing of one of its officers by unknown gunmen in Al-Maghazi camp in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip.

The ministry confirmed that security forces had arrested one suspect in connection with the incident, and investigations were ongoing.

In a written statement, the ministry reported that an initial investigation into the killing of Ahmed Zamzam implicated collaborators acting under the direct guidance of Israeli intelligence services.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect in Gaza on Oct. 10, halting over two years of Israeli attacks that killed more than 70,000 people, most of them women and children, and injured nearly 171,000 others since October 2023.

But the Israeli army has repeatedly violated the ceasefire, killing at least 386 Palestinians and injuring 1,018 others since Oct. 10.
