DAKAR, SENEGAL - DEC. 16: Dakar’s Independence Square has been illuminated with large-scale light installations ahead of the New Year, as city authorities decorate the Senegalese capital to mark the holiday season, drawing residents and visitors to the central landmark in the evenings.

The oversized light displays, installed as part of year-end preparations, have attracted steady crowds since nightfall at the square, one of Dakar’s most prominent public spaces.

Surrounded by historic and administrative buildings, the illuminated square has become a focal point of New Year celebrations in the capital.

Visitors, including local residents and tourists, have been seen taking photographs in front of the decorations.

The New Year light installations are expected to remain on display at Independence Square through the first days of January.
