2. PEOPLE WALKING AND SHOPPING (TWO SHOTS) ADEN, YEMEN - JAN. 9, 2026: Forces aligned with Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council on Friday announced the lifting of a curfew in Aden, saying security conditions have stabilized and normal movement has resumed across the city.

In a statement, the Southern Giants Brigade said the decision was taken under directives from Presidential Leadership Council member Abdulrahman Saleh al-Muharrami, officially ending the curfew imposed earlier this week.

The forces said relevant authorities were instructed to regulate traffic and maintain public order, noting that the step reflects improving security conditions and efforts to normalize daily life in the interim capital.

The curfew had been introduced on Wednesday as a temporary precaution amid heightened security concerns.

A day earlier, the government-affiliated National Shield Forces announced their deployment to Aden to reinforce security and protect state institutions, following orders from Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi.

The security measures followed the redeployment of the Giants Brigades to safeguard key facilities in the city, including Aden International Airport and the presidential palace.

Earlier today, the Southern Transitional Council announced on Friday that it had dissolved itself and all its bodies, ending its political and organizational activities.

Yemeni authorities have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the country’s unity and restoring stability across liberated areas.
