US: Severe Flooding And Debris Flows Overwhelm Wrightwood Area

Wrightwood, United States - December 24, 2025 San Bernardino County Fire has taken command of a major flooding and debris flow incident as heavy rain continues to impact the area. Battalion Chief 141 has assumed incident command, with Highway 2 reported as impassable due to mud, debris, and flooding. Fire officials have requested additional fire engines, hand crews, a dozer, and a swift water rescue unit as conditions deteriorate. Crews are actively helping evacuate homes that are being immediately affected, while authorities urge the public to stay away from the area. San Bernardino County Fire confirmed it remains in charge of the Wrightwood Incident as rain intensifies mud and debris flows. The focus remains on protecting lives. Firefighters are going door to door in affected neighborhoods and warning residents in danger zones to leave immediately. An evacuation warning is in effect for Wrightwood from Pine Street to the Los Angeles County line. Residents outside the warning area are also being strongly encouraged to evacuate due to the risk of rapidly worsening conditions. Rescue operations are ongoing, with crews saving people trapped in vehicles and responding to a rising number of swift water rescues, especially in the Hesperia and North Desert areas. Support is being provided by multiple agencies, including Los Angeles County Fire, CAL FIRE, San Bernardino County Sheriff Aviation, and San Bernardino County Public Works. A care and reception center for evacuees has been opened at Serrano High School in Phelan. Residents are advised to avoid travel if possible and remain informed through official county alert systems.
