Selcuk Bayraktaroglu attended a funeral ceremony held in Libya on Sunday, Dec. 28, for Libyan Chief of General Staff Gen. Mohammed Ali Al-Haddad and members of a military delegation who were killed in a plane crash in Haymana, Ankara province.
According to a statement shared on General Staff social media accounts, the ceremony took place with military honors, with coffins draped in Libyan flags carried by a ceremonial guard.
The statement said Bayraktaroglu met Libya’s Presidential Council Head Mohammed al-Menfi, Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, and Acting Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Abdussalam Zubi following the ceremony.
A private jet carrying a Libyan military delegation crashed in Ankara on Dec. 23, killing all eight people on board, including three crew.
Those killed were Libyan Chief of General Staff Gen. Mohammed Ali Al-Haddad, Libyan Land Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Futuri Gribel, Director of Libyan Military Factories Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Juma El Giteviy, adviser to the Libyan chief of general staff Mohammed Assavi, and photographer Mohammed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.
