On November 30, 2025, in Shanghai, an elderly man carrying a metal fence into an elevator on the 13th floor was "imprisoned" in the elevator for about 15 minutes.

The metal fence separated him from the elevator buttons, preventing him from operating the elevator. CCTV footage shows the elderly man trying various methods, all unsuccessful because he could not reach the elevator buttons.

He then had to send out elevator rescue information via his mobile phone. After more than ten minutes, someone on the 1st floor pressed the elevator button, and a woman was also trapped after arriving; then another woman arrived, and the three of them were trapped together.

Finally, with the help of the property staff, the elevator returned to the 13th floor, and the elderly man eventually returned to his starting point, while the metal fence he took from the 13th floor was also eventually returned to the 13th floor.
