SHROUDED BODY BEING CARRIED TO GRAVEYARD GAZA, PALESTINE - JANUARY 04: A Palestinian fisherman was killed, and another one was injured after Israeli forces opened fire off the coast of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday, Jan. 4, according to eyewitnesses and local health officials.

Witnesses said Israeli navy gunboats targeted fishing boats operating in waters near Khan Younis.

Health sources reported that an Israeli fast attack craft repeatedly fired on a small Palestinian fishing boat off the coast of al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killing 32-year-old Abdulrahman Abdulhadi al-Kan.

Another fisherman was also wounded in the same incident.

Palestinian fishermen, already struggling to earn a living amid the ongoing hostilities and Gaza’s naval blockade, say they frequently face dangerous violations at sea, with fishing trips increasingly marked by fear and uncertainty.

Israeli warplanes also carried out a series of airstrikes on various areas north and west of Rafah.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army carried out demolitions of residential buildings in eastern Khan Younis, accompanied by artillery shelling of areas that are under its control under the agreement.

Separately, Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on different areas in northern Gaza and east of Gaza City.

In central Gaza, Israeli military vehicles opened indiscriminate fire toward the eastern areas of the Bureij refugee camp.

Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on Oct. 10, the Israeli army has committed hundreds of violations, killing 420 Palestinians and wounding 1,184 others, according to the Health Ministry.

Israel’s two-year war killed nearly 71,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, injured more than 171,200 others, and left the enclave in ruins. Despite the ceasefire, Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza continue.
