La Paz, Bolivia - January 05, 2026 Thousands of workers and social movement members arrived in La Paz Monday after a three-day march to protest the government’s decision to eliminate longstanding fuel subsidies, demanding the repeal of the controversial decree and a reversal of the increase in gasoline and diesel prices. The demonstration, dubbed “Bolivia is not for sale,” began Saturday in the town of Calamarca, south of La Paz, as hundreds of miners, teachers, campesinos and other workers walked more than 50 kilometers toward the seat of government to present their objections to the decree eliminating fuel subsidies that had been in place for over two decades.
