A ski day took an unexpected turn for former athlete and traveller Lee Carseldine, who found himself sitting beside an influencer determined to get the selfie of all selfies. The moment, equal parts shocking and hilarious, was shared on his Instagram @leecarseldine and quickly drew attention for the influencer’s bold — and questionable — commitment to content.

Lee explained that he was riding a ski chairlift in Japan when he suddenly realised the person next to him had slipped out of the seat and was dangling off the side, holding on with one hand while angling their phone with the other. The influencer appeared completely focused on capturing the most unusual selfie possible, seemingly unfazed by the drop below.
