A powerful storm batters northwest France as Storm Goretti sweeps through the region overnight. Filmed from inside a car, the scene shows torrential rain and fierce winds reducing visibility to almost nothing, as the person recording reacts in French, expressing relief at being sheltered.

Storm Goretti, described as an exceptional extratropical cyclone, struck between January 8 and 9, 2026, bringing record wind gusts of up to 213 km/h in the Manche department. Authorities reported two people seriously injured, extensive structural damage, and power cuts affecting around 176,000 homes before weather alerts were gradually downgraded.
