Six Escape by a Hair’s Breadth as Drunk-Driven Car Launches Over Divider in Bengaluru
Bengaluru narrowly avoided a devastating tragedy late Thursday night after a speeding car, allegedly driven by an intoxicated motorist, leapt over the central divider on Indiranagar’s bustling 100 Feet Road and slammed into a hotel frontage — missing six pedestrians by mere seconds.
The dramatic incident, caught on CCTV at around 11:34 pm, shows a Skoda barreling in at nearly 90 kmph from 18th Main Road. Instead of taking a left turn towards the Domlur flyover, the driver lost control, ploughed straight into the divider, vaulted across the wide road and crashed violently into the hotel.
At that exact moment, six men and women who had just stepped out after dinner were standing near the entrance. Startled by the deafening impact, they instinctively scattered, escaping what could have been fatal injuries.
Locals described the escape as nothing short of miraculous, noting that even a split-second delay would have placed the group directly in the car’s path. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over drunk driving and high-speed recklessness in the city’s nightlife hubs.
Police are investigating the case and are expected to take strict action against the driver
