China: Shanghai launches year-long global food festival in 2026
East China's Shanghai on Friday rolled out its flagship culinary initiative "Global Taste," a year-round food festival series designed to position the city as a premier international dining destination Featuring multi-themed global culinary activities throughout the year, the program is set to introduce 10 urban food exploration routes and develop a series of integrated "food-plus-consumption" scenarios this year. As part of the launch, a European Flavors Season market, has been hosted in Huangpu District, with spotlighting Italian, Spanish and French cuisines, such as ham, cheese, salami, pizza and baked goods. In addition, organizers say that more measures, including establishing a promotion mechanism for international food markets, have been launched to solidify Shanghai's reputation as a premier global destination for culinary tourism.
