4. VARIOUS OF RESCUE TEAMS AROUND SHKODER, ALBANIA - JAN. 8, 2026: Relentless rain and heavy snowfall continued to batter Albania on Thursday, Jan. 8, causing widespread flooding and significant disruptions across several municipalities.

Intense rainfall that began overnight persisted into the early hours of Thursday.

The hardest-hit areas included the coastal cities of Durres and Vlora, as well as northern and southern regions including Lezhe, Gjirokaster, and Shkodra.

In these municipalities, floodwaters entered homes and businesses and large swaths of agricultural land remain underwater, raising concerns for local farmers.
