MADRID, SPAIN - JANUARY 9, 2026: An explosion caused the partial collapse of a residential building in Madrid on Friday, Jan. 9, killing one person and injuring nine others, local authorities said.
The blast, believed to have been caused by a gas leak, occurred on the upper floors of the four-storey building in the Carabanchel neighbourhood and forced dozens of residents to evacuate due to the risk of further structural damage, authorities added.
