The arena hosted Italian Hockey League (IHL) Serie A and Italian Cup Final Four matches, with the Varese–Caldaro game serving as a test to assess organizational capacity ahead of the Olympics.
The 15,000-seat venue welcomed around 4,000 fans for the test event following earlier delays in its construction schedule. Officials said they were satisfied with the overall operation of the facility, adding that work continues to address remaining shortcomings.
