Los Angeles, United States - January 13, 2026 01/12/2026 09:41 pm GMT-0800 DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a report of an auto fire in the 1000 block of San Julian Street. Firefighters arrived to find a 2015 white Toyota Sienna engulfed in flames at the rear of the vehicle in front of the Akber Masjid Islamic Center of Downtown Los Angeles. The fire crew quickly extinguished the flames. The vehicle's owner, who wished to remain off camera, stated he had come to the location to pray when the car was set on fire. Surveillance footage from the area shows a person wearing a face mask approaching the vehicle, bending toward the rear tire, and then walking away. Shortly after the individual left, the vehicle began to smoke and was soon engulfed in flames. While the owner expressed distress and confusion about why someone would target his vehicle, no injuries were reported. The suspected arsonist has not yet been located.
