This is the heartstopping moment a toddler was just inches away from being killed by an oncoming car.

The three-year-old girl was riding her push bike towards her little brother when he chased after her in Krabi, southern Thailand, on June 11.

CCTV footage from a nearby shop shows how the girl lost control of the bike and rolled into the dual carriageway.

An oncoming white Toyota that appeared to be travelling at more than 40 mph narrowly missed the front of the girl's bike. The force of the passing vehicle made her lose her balance and topple over onto the ground.

The girl's worried mother ran over and scooped her up before carrying her to safety away from the traffic.

Shopkeeper Mongkol Leelakan said: 'I heard the noise of people shouting outside my shop and went to see what happened. My cameras recorded the whole thing. The little girl was very lucky. If she had gone into the road a second earlier she could be dead.'

Mongkol said the car carried on driving following the incident. The child was shaken but unhurt following the fall.
