This is the heartwarming moment a toddler tried to help a lost lamb find its way back to its mother during a family hike.

A family was walking on an off-road path in Zhejiang, China, when they encountered a young lambkin bleating loudly.

Footage shows the creature sprinting toward the young boy, dressed in a red hooded jacket, and coming to a halt right in front of him on January 2.

The boy can be heard saying 'Hello,' to which the lamb responds with an adorable 'baa'.

The toddler then pointed in the direction where the lamb's mother might be, while the animal stood perfectly still, appearing to listen attentively.

Moments later, the child inched toward his mother while the lamb remained behind, bleating out to call for its own parent.
